Namet.ag’s commitment to customer communication

July 21, 2010
We, Namet.ag’s founders, don’t want to push our product on you. We want you to want it and we want it to do exactly what you want it to.
Accordingly, we have committed ourselves to two major principles in the way we interact with customers and the interested public:
(1) Build a product that satisfies a need.
(2) That customers define both “need” and “satisfy”.
We are doing our best to narrow down that need and offer a product that satisfies it, but we are few and you are LEGION. We recognize that our attempts are just a starting point; we know what neighborhood we want to be in, but need help finding the right house. We will get that help by asking directions from the locals; the user community.
To that end, we will remain perpetually committed to communicating with our customers. We have set up a network of sites designed to both send information to you and receive information from you.

Status Update from Scott

February 1, 2010

Things are going well here at namet.ag, but we haven’t reached out in a while so I just wanted to give everyone an update on our progress.

While we still have 5 days remaining on our survey, our responses have been incredible. We really cannot thank you enough for your support and hope you continue to share a link to our site with your friends:

http://namet.ag – the big orange button.

If you read our press release, you’ll know we are hoping to minimize the BETA testing feedback period, so we can be ready to roll at launch!

I just recently returned back to Seattle from two great meetings in northern Virginia and Chicago. There I met with Pat Mills and Grahan Cooley to further discuss our technology and marketing efforts. The bottom line is that things are going great. Using your great feedback, we began laying out the technology architecture and feature roadmap, and discussed how we are going to roll it out to all of you (and your friends and your friend’s friends).

While I’d love to share all the specifics of this meeting, I don’t want to give away the secret sauce to a competitor! But I can tell you this, based on your feedback, you are going to be very pleased even with the beta version 0.5.

Next steps:
While Pat and company pound away on the code, Grahan and I are putting the final touches on our investor presentation deck. We hope to start seeking funding as early as next week. While we understand this is likely to take some time, an initial gut check with a local angel investor was very well received so we are very optimistic!

We are very excited to deliver the (free) product we know all of you have been waiting for! As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Namet.ag Surveys Public Opinions on Contact Management

“Business moves too fast for paper contact information anymore”, say Namet.ag Founders

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – January 17, 2010 UTC – In an effort to build the best contact management software possible, Namet.ag LLC today announced the launch of a survey to gauge how people manage their personal and business contact information.

“We want to get out ahead of the customer feedback cycle,” said Scott Swanson, co-founder of Namet.ag. By getting public input very early in the development cycle, Swanson is planning on being able to leapfrog a traditional beta and make the product available that much quicker by implementing “user demands before we have users.”

The short survey, available at http://namet.ag, asks a small number of questions about how people keep track of contact information, what software they prefer and what features they look for in a contact management application. The survey ends with that open ended question and includes a contest to win a new iPod Shuffle. A panel of judges will select a winner from the suggestions for a feature missed by current contact management systems.

The inspiration for Namet.ag came from complaining about the amount of time it took to hunt around for a business contact’s number and, upon finding it, discovering that it was out-of-service. Swanson recalled his frustration that his contact management software required him to update it himself. “Seemed unnecessary,” Swanson said, “millions of people entering all their own contact information and I still need to set aside time each week to update my database – only to be out of date by the time I get to it? There’s a better way..”

“Business moves too fast for paper,” claimed Grahan Cooley, co-founder and director of marketing for Namet.ag. “People are switching jobs, phone numbers and websites all the time. For people who depend on making contact with other people, information needs to be up-to-date.” Cooley stated that the information is already being updated, online by the source themselves, in their social networks and email programs. All people need is a way to automatically go get it. “Namet.ag”, he says, “is designed to do just that.”

Namet.ag is the contact management component and the foundation to a forthcoming communications platform called the ” FūZBºX ” network, designed by and for small business owners and employees. Planning on a release this Fall, Namet.ag will be the first feature of the FūZBºX network to become available to the public and will always be free, according to its founders.
